*What is a lean-to?

An Adirondack icon, the lean-to is a rustic, three-sided log shelter. Originally built as temporary camps for 19th-century guides, they are now permanent fixtures along the shores of the Canoe Area. They are open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis for resting, escaping a sun shower, or enjoying the view from the "deacon seat" log bench.
